Yoro Tenmei Hantenchi (Site of Reversible Destiny)

Japan is known for its pretty parks, but this one is something altogether different. Yoro Tenmei Hantenchi (Site of Reversible Destiny) was created as an art project by the late Japanese contemporary artist Shusaku Arakawa and his partner, the late American poet and artist Madeline Gins. The 'art park' is a spacious 18,100㎡ featuring optical illusions and distorted spaces that allow you to experience the unreliability of your senses. Sneakers and helmets can be rented. Helmets, you ask? Indeed, the park's arty landscape is physically treacherous enough to warrant a first-aid kit being on hand in the rare case of emergencies. Even if you don't really understand the meaning behind it all, you'll have plenty of fun sliding, running, laughing and generally mucking around like a kid in this world of wonders.
